Ram Gopal Verma : “Aag Is My Only Original Film To Date”

Filed under: Bollywood News, Interviews with Bollywood Stars - 2,009 views

Ram Gopal Verma has beeen having hard luck at the box office. James, Shiva and Nishabd were all duds at the box office. Was Sarrkar his last hit? I guess so. But Ram Gopal Verma is not a man who is deterred by commercial failure. He has huge expectations from his dream project : Ram Gopal Verma Ki Aag, a movie inspired from Indian Cinema’s biggest blockbuster film, Sholay.

“The original Sholay created an excitement by giving the audience one slammer of a scene after another. I hope to do the same,” Varma says.

Ram Gopal Verma also confesses his take on Sholay is the ‘only original film’ that he has made so far.

Video : Katrina And Lara Dutta On Koffee With Karan

The sweet Katrina Kaif and the dashing Lara Dutta added a certain charm to the sets of Koffee With Karan last Sunday.

Katrina was at her diplomatic best. When asked about her relationship with actor Salman Khan, katrina refused to comment and went on to say some crap about Cancerian people that had Karan completely confused.

While Lara Dutta was rather cautious learning from the mistakes she made on the last season of Koffee With Karan. Though Katrina gave a good fight for the coveted Coffee Hamper it was Lara Dutta who took the goodies home, leaving a rather annoyed Katrina.

Here are some videos of the Koffee With Karan episode of Katrina Kaif and Lara Dutta. Watch and enjoy ….

Koffee With Karan : Lara Dutta And Katrina Kaif

Filed under: Bollywood News, Interviews with Bollywood Stars - 10,120 views

Seems the sets of Koffee With Karan are going to get illuminated. No me not talking about any changes in the lighting techniques. It is just the beauty of Bollywood’s two hottest beauties Lara Dutta and Katrina Kaif that will brighten up the sets of Koffee With Karan.

Here are excerpts from the chat with Karan and Bollywood starlets Katrina Kaif and Lara Dutta :

Karan: Welcome back Lara
Lara Dutta: Thanks Karan… I was hoping you have me back actually… I was a little worried when I got your call…

Karan: Last time, we had such a fun time with you and Bipasha… did I get you into trouble?
Lara Dutta: Yes… tremendously… it has taken me a whole year to undo… all the problems I caused myself…

Karan: You are looking absolutely stunning… why do I feel you are suddenly raring to go?
Lara Dutta: Because I probably am… its taken me about 3 and a half years to find my footing in the industry… to find out what I like doing … the kind of cinema that I like being part of… the kind of people that I like doing work with… I think once you have that in place… you start feeling a little more confident about yourself…

Karan: You just said some wonderful things about Amisha Patel last time?
Lara Dutta: It’s all your fault

Karan: What did I do? I just used my good old friend… the liometer…you just kept the spilling the beans… Now of course… it’s long forgotten… you and Amisha don’t cross paths anymore
Lara Dutta: Actually, I did meet her at your birthday party… all this has to do with you

Karan: And what happened when you met her?
Lara Dutta: She was really sweet… really lovely … and you know something.

Karan: you felt terrible
Lara Dutta: I felt terrible after the show anyway… and I think immaturity and being caught up in the moment make you do a lot of things

Karan: But, it’s ok… it’s all part of the past….

Karan: Lara any problems with anybody at all… or things are fine?
Lara Dutta: No, things are fine…

Karan: Well, in the beginning there were… you know, you had your so-called war with Priyanka…
Lara Dutta: You know, I think the media needs a new bakra every couple of years… so, initially it was Sush and Ask and then it was Priyanka and me… and now it’s Sonam and Deepika…
Karan: Deepika… yes… Sonam and Deepika…

Karan: What happens Lara, in this industry when you get attached or you have rumors and controversies about you with leading men, which is not true. How does that place you?
Lara Dutta: You know what happens Karan… is that the media keeps falling for the same time-tested ploy, time and time again and every time there is a film releasing, the makers of the film or the publicists or whoever decide that it would be so exciting to spread these rumors that the two leading male and female stars are having a scene with each other and the media keeps falling for it again and again. All it does is, it garners publicity for a film. Once the film is out and done with, you’re linked to the next co-star you’re working with!

Nisha Kothari Talks About RGV Ke Aag

Filed under: Interviews with Bollywood Stars - 3,586 views

Ram Gopal Verma surely does have fascination with his female heroines. First it was Urmila, then Antara Mali and now it is Nisha Kothari. After casting her in James, he gave her another film Shiva. Unfortunately both the movies bombed at the box office. Ramu  also provided her with a blink and you’ll  miss role in Sarkar. But now Ram Gopal Verma has provided Nisha Kothari a role of a life time in his next film, RGV Ke Aag. Providing Nisha Kothari the role of Basanti that Hema Malini has immortalised, surely Ram Gopal Verma has given Nisha Kothari a huge responsibility and a big chance too to establish her career. Only time will tell whether Nisha gets to even a shade closer to Hema Mailini’s performance from Sholay.

Here’s an interview of the confident Nisha Kothari as she speaks to Rajnee Gupta.

Q: How different is the character Ghungroo from the original Basanti?
A: Ghungroo is a totally versatile character and her facial expressions change with every scene. She is the tapori type who does not care about anyone and is highly impressed by superhero Rajnikant. She loves Laila, the autorickshaw that she drives and is addicted to bidis.

You can say that Basanti and Ghungroo have the same flavour, but their attitudes and looks are very different. The viewers will not say that my character is similar to Basanti.

Q: Do you feel Ghungroo will be as popular as Basanti?
A: That can be known only after the movie’s release. For example, Samba was a small character in Sholay but he has become immortal. I have done my best in Aag, now the viewers will decide.

Q: How was the experience of working with so many actors?
A: I have learnt a lot from all the actors in this film. It has helped me grow as a person.

Q: Any interesting incident on the sets that you can recall?
A: I have a bad memory, so I cannot recall any such incident.

Nisha Kothari

Himesh Reshammiya On Koffee With Karan

This Sunday will see the Topi Master Himesh Reshammiya sipping coffee with Karan Johar on the show Koffee With Karan.

Himesh Reshammiya is rather ubiquitous since those Aashiq Banaya days. From songs to more songs to more songs his nasal tone can be heard reverbating out of every nukkad, every restaurant and every disco. And now he has donned the cap(yes another Topi) of an actor with his latest albeit pathetic Super Hit : Aap Ka Surroor.

So if you are famous then you’ve to be on the seat with Karan sipping Koffee, while Karan in his archetypal style will try and stir up some controversy and get to some rather tricky questions in the Rapid Fire Round. So how could Himesh elude sipping Koffee with Karan? So this week, Himesh Reshammiya and Karan are going to have some rather strong Koffee and stir up a rather hot converstion.

So here’s a brief preview into this Sunday’s Koffee With Karan and Himesh….

Here are excerpts from the chat with Himesh Reshammiya and Karan Johar.

Karan: Welcome to Koffee with Karan Himesh… how does it feel to be on the show?
Himesh: Superb!

Karan: Firstly, congratulations on the super success of your film… I know a large section of the industry was surprised… but were you expecting this kind of success?
Himesh: I think… I just believed in God, destiny and somewhere I think everyone just prayed for me and that is something that worked for me

Karan: By everyone, you mean who, large sections of the industry were not praying for you…
Himesh: No, no… only that 1 %… people just felt that this can not happen, a singer not a very good looking guy…

Karan: As in, not conventional looking… not hero material?
Himesh: I think you are being nice to me… but, it was something that was unprecedented… when the film started, people did say, “paagal ho gaya hai”. I understand. But, when actually the film was declared a hit… then, people realized.

Karan: There were particular people, who were somehow targeting you… is there any one kind of person that you felt resentment towards?
Himesh: No… I really did not feel resentment towards anyone… because when you try something which is unprecedented… then people are going to… till you prove it… and when this film was releasing… and it was declared that is a hit… so many people called me and said, “very good”… congratulated me… and they said, that they felt it wouldn’t work… so, its just that I was doing something new… something different… and it takes a little time to accept something that is unconventional…

Karan: Have you heard that behind your back there might be other singers who might be making fun of you?
Himesh: Yes… of course why not… but, you know, when they meet me… kitne composers ke saath milne ka mauka milta hain… pehli baar… phir woh opinion badal jati dete hain…

Karan: But one thing is… you keep very quite about your wife… you don’t talk about her?
Himesh: Because she is a very simple girl…

Bipasha Breaks Her Silence On The Ronaldo Kiss

Seems like Bipasha has suddenly got international fame. First she gets to represent India at the New Seven Wonders Of The World Ceremony and then she is caught kissing soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo at the post party celebrations.

Speaking about her meeting with soccer super star Cristiano Ronaldo, Bipasha says, “I was like a fan to begin with. But after we bonded, we just became two individuals bonding as buddies over an important international event. We’re pals now. If I ever have to see a football game, all I’ve to do is ask Cristiano,” she added.

Ironically Bipasha became a football fan ever since she met John. “I’ve been Cristiano’s fan for five years. I haven’t yet told John the details of my partying with Cristiano. I will as soon as he returns from his outdoors.”

Revealing the details, she said, “I felt like a princess. He gave me so many compliments. He danced with me throughout the night. There were 50,000 jealous women staring at us. I must’ve got so much Portuguese bud-dua (bad wishes) that night. The local girls wanted to murder me. Now he wants to e-mail me regularly.”

During dinner, Cristiano told Bipasha that he was a big fan of Bollywood. “I thought he was just trying to be sweet. I told him he didn’t have to say he liked Bollywood films just to please me.

Emraan Hashmi : ” I was sick of kissing on screen “

Filed under: Interviews with Bollywood Stars - 15,155 views

So finally the man’s got sick of kissing. Ya, there is a limit to everything and Emraan Hashmi’s has finally got bored of the kissing overdose he has onscreen.

Emraan Hashmi, who has been tagged as a ’serial kisser’ by the media, says he is sick of kissing people on screen and is happy that his latest flick Awarapan does not have any such scenes.

‘I was sick of kissing on screen,’ the 28-year-old actor said during a news conference in New Delhi to promote ‘Awarapan’. ‘I was being typecast as a kisser. Thankfully, I’m not kissing anyone in this film.

‘When I used to see myself kissing on screen, I did not feel good myself and I can understand what the audience must have felt. There was a time when people came up to me and said that our kids love you but they cannot go to see your films.’

He added: ‘I wanted to break this stereotyping of myself and I took a risk in Awarapan by not doing all that I was previously related to. This film marks the second phase of Emraan Hashmi.’
