We were told that Karan Johar’s Dostana will fiddle with controverssy and here’s the reason why. According to sources in the industry, John Abraham is set to star as a gay in the movie. Karan Johar who did give a comic touch to the gay relationship with the Kaanta Bhen stuff in Kal Ho Na Ho, will be having John play the role of a gay in his upcoming film Dostana.

Dostana also stars Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra. Shilpa Shetty will be seen performing a hot bikini item number in the film. 

Says an insider on condition of anonymity, “The love triangle in the film is between Abhishek-Priyanka-John. Abhishek loves Priyanka in the film. But Priyanka likes John. Abhishek and John play good friends. So for the sake of friend Abhishek, John fakes as if he is a gay to repel Priyanka”. This is the first time that John Abraham (or for that matter any mainstream actor) would be playing a gay character in a Hindi film.

Bollywood’s bubbliest actress Preity Zinta is seen keeping a low profile recently. Apart from Jhoom Barabar Jhoom that bombed miserably at the box office last year, Preity Zinta hasn’t had any release for almost two years.

With new actresses like Vidya Balan, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, the competition is only getting tougher. It’s time Preity pulls her socks up and gets back to acting.

Preity’s next film will be Harr Pal directed by Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara director Jahnu Barua. Shiney Ahuja will star opposite the actress in Har Pall.

Ayesha Takia, the sweet cute actress who made her sparkling debut with Abhay Deol in Socha Na Tha received a lot of flak from her critics for her growing waist line. The actress who was looking  plumpier with each passing film was rumored to have gone to UK to undergo a liposuction surgery so as to remove that extra fat.

But AyeshaTakia has dismissed all rumors of her undergoing any such surgery.  “She has not gone for any such cosmetic changes. Ayesha is busy shooting for her film. These talks are utter rubbish,” said her angry father, putting all the baseless rumours circulating about his daughter, to rest.

Liposuction or not, Ayesha must surely hit the gym to reduce that ever growing waist line of her’s. Hit the gym girl, that’s what we can advise.

The nominations for the prestiguous IIFA Awards which are akin to the Oscars in Bollywood are out. The controversial things about this time’s awards though is that Aamir Khan’s critically acclaimed Taare Zameen Par will not feature in the list of nominations. The reason being Aamir Khan’s failure to fill in the nomination details for Taare Zameen Par for IIFA Awards. So that means Chak De India is most likely to sweep most awards this year round.

The IIFA Awards ceremony would be held in Bangkok this year and it sure promises to be a scintillating star studded affair.

Since the time Farah Khan had her triplets, there have number of speculations and rumors about the names that Farah and Shirish would choose for them.Finally, putting an end to all the guesses and estimates, Farah informs, “I have named my girls Diva and Anya.”

And what about her son? She enthusiastically says, “Well, we have not zeroed on that yet. It changes every week and this week it’s Czar.”

Says Farah, “We have named our son Czar (the rulers of Russia were called that) as I think my baby looks like a chubby emperor. It was Shah Rukh’s and my idea to name one of the girls Diva. The names Anya and Czar have been kept by Shirish. Czar behaves like a king who needs his space.”

If Ranbir Kapoor is being seen as the true inheritor of the Kapoor legacy, it is with reason. In his debut film Saawariya a major part of Ranbir’s personality was patterned on Raj Kapoor. And now Raj Kumar Santoshi who sees a special spark in the Saawariya star is getting ready to take Ranbir’s acting ancestry to another level.

In Santoshi’s Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani Ranbir plays the melancholy lover-boy hopelessly in love with the idea of being in love. The character was immortalized by Raj Kapoor in Mera Naam Joker and before him, Chaplin in City Lights. Ranbir in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani plays ‘Prem’ a true inheritor of the two imperishable heroes from the past. Says Santoshi, “I decided Ranbir was the right actor for my film from the time I saw Saawariya. He plays Prem an innocent guy with a heart of gold. Yes there will be distinct elements of Charlie Chaplin and Raj Kapoor, though not too much of it. Raj Saab has already done it all in Sri 420 and it would look repetitive. Also, that level of political and sexual innocence would look odd in present times. Let’s say Ranbir plays the Charlie Chaplin and Raj Kapoor of our times.”

Santoshi fondly recalls the experience of working with Ranbir’s father. “In my Damini Rishi Kapoor played a really difficult role…of a man caught between his duties towards his family and society. Though Rishi didn’t have an author-backed role in Damini, what a beautiful job of he did.” Ranbir on the other hand not only has the title role in Ajab Prem… his character also gets to go through a series of life-changing experiences. “Ranbir takes interest in every aspect of the film. He’s a keen student if cinema. His enthusiasm for cinema goes much beyond his role. I know I’ll enjoy my shooting with him. But beyond that I’m right now enjoying interacting with him,” adds Santoshi. In the next two months, Santoshi will be doing a first-look photo session between Ranbir and Katrina Kaif. “We’ll also be sitting on the costumes because the clothes are a very important part of the story. We start shooting the film only when Ranbir returns from his long foreign schedule of the Yashraj Film,” informs Santoshi.

Controversies do not seem to be leaving Vivek Oberoi. The got the slap of his life when a female guest decided to teach the flirt a lesson in respect.

Says an eyewitness present, “Last week, Vivek and his Mission Istanbul director Apoorva Lakhia were at a common friend’s party in Bandra. They’d been shooting continuously for 10 days at Madhusudhan Mills and this was a welcome break. After a few drinks, Vivek started flirting with the host’s girlfriend, a foreigner. At first, she politely ignored his overtures but then, he kissed her. She replied with a resounding slap.”

Successful filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya has been rumoured to be writing a script that will be a sequel to the 90s hit film Hum Aapke Hain Kaun.

According to therumors making round , the sequel will pick up the story 15 years after Prem (Salman Khan) and Nisha (Madhuri Dixit) got married. The pair have two young kids of their own and are living a happy family life. However, problems arise when a runaway bride (Amrita Rao) seeks shelter in their house. Things get even worse when she falls in love with their clean-freak neighbor (Shahid Kapur). The story has a further twist when the bride’s would be groom (John Abraham) turns up and woos her back.
Before putting pen to paper, Sooraj made sure that the stars of the film were onboard and got them to agree to star… once the script was completed.

Salman Khan has already set aside dates in 2009 for the film so that they match up for the time when Madhuri Dixit’s children are on school vacation.

According to a family friend, Hrithik wants a girl this time. The enthusiastic couple is also planning to change the interiors of their kids’ room. Even young Hrehaan Roshan, all of two years, is quite excited about his new play partners to be.

Hrithik was supposed to start shooting for his home production Kite by the end of May. But the babies are also scheduled around that time. So the doting father has shifted his dates to end of July.
