If Ranbir Kapoor is being seen as the true inheritor of the Kapoor legacy, it is with reason. In his debut film Saawariya a major part of Ranbir’s personality was patterned on Raj Kapoor. And now Raj Kumar Santoshi who sees a special spark in the Saawariya star is getting ready to take Ranbir’s acting ancestry to another level.

In Santoshi’s Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani Ranbir plays the melancholy lover-boy hopelessly in love with the idea of being in love. The character was immortalized by Raj Kapoor in Mera Naam Joker and before him, Chaplin in City Lights. Ranbir in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani plays ‘Prem’ a true inheritor of the two imperishable heroes from the past. Says Santoshi, “I decided Ranbir was the right actor for my film from the time I saw Saawariya. He plays Prem an innocent guy with a heart of gold. Yes there will be distinct elements of Charlie Chaplin and Raj Kapoor, though not too much of it. Raj Saab has already done it all in Sri 420 and it would look repetitive. Also, that level of political and sexual innocence would look odd in present times. Let’s say Ranbir plays the Charlie Chaplin and Raj Kapoor of our times.”

Santoshi fondly recalls the experience of working with Ranbir’s father. “In my Damini Rishi Kapoor played a really difficult role…of a man caught between his duties towards his family and society. Though Rishi didn’t have an author-backed role in Damini, what a beautiful job of he did.” Ranbir on the other hand not only has the title role in Ajab Prem… his character also gets to go through a series of life-changing experiences. “Ranbir takes interest in every aspect of the film. He’s a keen student if cinema. His enthusiasm for cinema goes much beyond his role. I know I’ll enjoy my shooting with him. But beyond that I’m right now enjoying interacting with him,” adds Santoshi. In the next two months, Santoshi will be doing a first-look photo session between Ranbir and Katrina Kaif. “We’ll also be sitting on the costumes because the clothes are a very important part of the story. We start shooting the film only when Ranbir returns from his long foreign schedule of the Yashraj Film,” informs Santoshi.

The sensational pictures  of Deepika Padukone getting into bed with Upen Patel have got the latter into a bit of bother as it has been rumoured that he may have deliberately released them to the media.

The images are three years old and were part of a photo shoot. Now Upen is being blamed for circulating these pictures in a bid to revive the rumours of him and Deepika. Says a source close to Deepika, “Why are these pictures coming out now? After three years? Right now Deepika is hot property; it can’t be a con-incidence that these pictures are suddenly popping up in everyone’s mailboxes.”

Upen has defended the allegations by being blissfully aware, “The pictures are something from the past. I don’t even remember them, if you know what I mean. I did some photo shoot with her for Wendell many years ago. Who ever is behind spreading these pictures has an agenda to spoil my image in the public eye but I am not at fault here.”

Controversies do not seem to be leaving Vivek Oberoi. The got the slap of his life when a female guest decided to teach the flirt a lesson in respect.

Says an eyewitness present, “Last week, Vivek and his Mission Istanbul director Apoorva Lakhia were at a common friend’s party in Bandra. They’d been shooting continuously for 10 days at Madhusudhan Mills and this was a welcome break. After a few drinks, Vivek started flirting with the host’s girlfriend, a foreigner. At first, she politely ignored his overtures but then, he kissed her. She replied with a resounding slap.”

Hot Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has finally been granted her wish… of starring in a Karan Johar production.

Shilpa Shetty is currently shooting for an item song in Miami with Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham for Karan Johar’s home production of Dostana. According to her publicist, “If her UP-Bihar song rocked and lootofyed the nation, this one should rock a reasonable part of the world.”

This particular bikini hot song was supposed to star the lead actress Priyanka Chopra, but Priyanka refused to go in a bikini and Shilpa got offered the role. And if the pictures are any indication, then Shilpa really is all set to sizzle the screen.

Apart from this high profile song, Shilpa will also be seen opposite Sunny Deol in his directorial flick The Man. She is also rumoured to be starring with Hollywood star Keanu Reeves in Hanuman where she depict the character of Sita. surely Shilpa has a great year ahead.

Successful filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya has been rumoured to be writing a script that will be a sequel to the 90s hit film Hum Aapke Hain Kaun.

According to therumors making round , the sequel will pick up the story 15 years after Prem (Salman Khan) and Nisha (Madhuri Dixit) got married. The pair have two young kids of their own and are living a happy family life. However, problems arise when a runaway bride (Amrita Rao) seeks shelter in their house. Things get even worse when she falls in love with their clean-freak neighbor (Shahid Kapur). The story has a further twist when the bride’s would be groom (John Abraham) turns up and woos her back.
Before putting pen to paper, Sooraj made sure that the stars of the film were onboard and got them to agree to star… once the script was completed.

Salman Khan has already set aside dates in 2009 for the film so that they match up for the time when Madhuri Dixit’s children are on school vacation.

After striking gold with his last year’s release of a mad cap comedy, Welcome. Filmmaker Firoz Nadiadwala is all set to make a sequel to it.

Akshay Kumar will once again reprise his role but Katrina Kaif may only be restricted to a guest appearance. It has been rumoured that Deepika Padukone is being lined up in her place for the lead female part. Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar will be getting more screen space as their comedy chemistry has gone down well with viewers. Mallika Sherawat is expected to get a much meatier story this time around in Welcome 2.

Chandni Chowk To China is a  Nikhil Advani’s third film after the blockbuster Kal Ho Na Ho and the dismal Salaam-E-Ishq.  The film stars Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles.

Chandini Chowk To China earlier known as Mera Naam Chin Chin Choo and also Made in China, is written by Sridhar Raghavan who also wrote Khakee (2004) and Bluffmaster (2005). The story is about a chef who is mistaken to be a martial arts expert leading to a comedy of errors that follows suit.

Two hot numbers from the 70s era of Bollywood are being resurrected for this  action comedy. The film, which is still in production and is expected to be released by year-end, will have the songs ‘Bambai Se Aaya Mera Dost’ and ‘Piya Tu Ab To Aaja’ included in the final released version. Both songs, from the films Aap Ki Khatir and Caravan respectively, will be item numbers. Two hot Bollywood babes are being sought for the dance numbers and our sources reveal that the two could be Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif.

Hrithik was supposed to start shooting for his home production Kite by the end of May. But the babies are also scheduled around that time. So the doting father has shifted his dates to end of July.
