Movie Preview : Sarkar 2

After the success of Sarkar, Ram Gopal Varma is ready to shoot its sequel Sarkar 2 which will star the icons of the Bachchan family. Unlike Sarkar, which was inspired from Francis Ford Coppola’s film ‘Godfather’, Sarkar 2 will be an original script. The script draws no similarity from Godfather 2, which conceptualized the idea of son taking over the mafia business after the death of his father.

Sarkar 2 will star Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Bachchan in pivotal roles. The film will capture the political surroundings of rural Maharashtra and Delhi. The plot highlights the powers of Abhishek and Aishwarya whereas Amitabh’s role will take a backdrop from its original.

Salman Khan Talks About His Role In Saawariya

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya is as all set for release tomorrow. Tomorrow will decided the fate of the acting career of Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor’s acting career. Apart from Ranbir and Sonam, Salman Khan and Rani Mukherjee also make a special appearance in the film. Here is an exclusive interview of Salman Khan with Screen India talking about his future plans and about his role in Bhansali’s Saawariya.

After giving you a miss in Devdas, how did Sanjay Leela Bhansali convince you for Saawariya?
Sanjay Leela Bhansali just called me up one day and told me he was making a love story and wanted me to be a part of it. Before that we were to work on Bajirao Mastani but there were some date problems and the film got postponed. SLB decided to direct the love story with Sonam and Ranbir Kapoor first.

Your character in the film remains a dark mystery still.
I play a Muslim character called Iman. I love the name because my father wants to name my son Iman. You know it sounds good, Salim, Salman and Iman! But I would love to call my son prince Salim or Changez Khan (laughs). Iman is a mind-blowing character. He is a little khadus, speaks harshly but there’s a lot of humour in him. He is romantic and flirtatious.

This is your third film with SLB. How has your association changed over the years?
I remember he came to me with Khamoshi - The Musical when nobody was willing to do his film. When I read the script I realised it was not commercially viable, but I loved it anyway. I had nothing much to do in the film but I took it up only because of the script. I incorporated humour in my character which SLB didn’t like because he wanted my character to be serious. Eventually, he shot both ways and on the editing table liked my light-hearted character and retained it. SLB hasn’t changed at all. Even when he didn’t have a penny in his pocket he made lavish films and he’s doing that even today. Many a times he goes over-budget and it shows in the film. It shows what a fine technician and director he is.

With Saawariya and Om Shanti Om (OSO) releasing on the same day, don’t you think it will cut into each other’s collections?
No, I think it’s a good thing for both the films. If Saawariya came first, it would have affected OSO and vice versa. In any case I have a special appearance in OSO, so it’s good for me that are both releasing simultaneously. I am concerned though for Ranbir and Sonam as they are both simply fantastic. God forbid, if the film doesn’t do well they can take heart that they were pitted against a SRK starrer and start again.

Raima Sen Doesn’t Mind Shedding Clothes On The Screen

raima sen

While sister, Riya Sen has not quite made it big in the tinsel town. But sister Raima has managed to carvbe a niche for her in Bollywood. Raima’s short but consequential role in Parineeta got her many accolades. Her role as the strong headed Bengali beauty in Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Limited gave her the critics nod. And now Raima Sen is determined to make it big in Bollywood. Here is an exclusive interview of Raima Sen with Hindustan Times.

Will you be soon competing with your glamorous sister Riya?
I have entered commercial cinema full throttle. Although Riya is my sister but we both belong to different genres.

We both are doing quite different films. I will really have to buck up in order to compete with Riya who is very sexy and glamorous. She has breasts and hips truly measuring up to Bollywood standards.

While I am clueless about fashion Riya is totally into it. She designs costumes for me

Do you prefer the Plain Jane look?
I want to look sexy. I will not mind shedding clothes for success of a film

Just because I look cool does not mean I am not vivacious.

What major projects are you doing
I am working with meera Nair in a film on AIDS. I am also doing Aparna Sen’s Japanese Wife, Rituparno Ghosh’s Khela and some more movies. I want to be a big name both in Bollywood and Kolkata. I keep shuttling between Mumbai to Kolkata.

I used to attend every single lecture. I used to be the favourite of all the teachers… and whatever I am saying right now is a complete lie.”

His partner Ehsaan told us, “My high school memories consist of getting into trouble every week, detention twice or thrice a week at least, my mother getting letters from school saying I have flunked in this subject, I have flunked in that subject…”
