Abhishek Bachchan is all set to do what Hrithik Roshan did in Krissh. The talented actor will play a super hero in friend Goldie Behl’s Drona. The fantasy film will also have Priyanka Chopra, Jaya Bachchan and Kay Kay Menon in important roles.

Priyanka Chopra is enacting Abhishek Bachchan’s bodyguard while Kay Kay Menon is acquiring a negative role. Menon’s role was first offered to Shiney Ahuja who opted out saying he had date problems. The film was initially due to be released around December, 2007 but was delayed to a 2008, Diwali release due to a special effects procedure.

Om Shanti Om has surely raced ahead of Saawariya as far as promotions go. The movie has got expectations to rocket sky high. The songs have become chart busters and Vishal Shekhar have got their biggest musical hit.

Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om that is a take on Bollywood in the ’70s and talks about Om ( a side actor) and his love for a starlet, Shanti ( Deepika Padukone). But Om is killed and reborns to be a superstar. The story may sound like a typical masala film. But there is no harm in making pure masala movies, if they are made well and are enjoyable.

Aamir Khan takes onto the role of a director with Taare Zameen Par. The movie was intially was supposed to be produced by Aamir Khan and directed by Amol Gupte, who wrote the script of the film. But Aamir wasn’t impressed by what he saw of Amol Gupte, the director. So Aamir decided that he handle the direction for this film.

Taare Zameen Par is slated for a December release. Shankar Ehsaaan Loy are in form once again. The lyrics of Taare Zameen Par, though simple are really well penned and truly meaningful.

Shahid Kapur and Kareena Kapoor’s off screen romance may have ended, but hitting screens this Friday is their romantic comedy, Jab We Met.

Jab We Met Story

The story of Jab We Met is an assorted mix of all that we have seen in those typical mushy romantic Bollywood films. Aditya ( Shahid Kapur ) a very serious depressed business man whose girl friend has just left him meets Geet ( Kareena Kapoor) on a train journey. Geet is just the opposite of Aditya, bubbly and full of life. Accidentally both Geet and Aditya miss their train and now Aditya has to reach Geet safely to her parents place in Bhatinda. Geet’s fun and frolic attitude soon brushes up on Aditya and he starts developing feelings for her. But Geet is already in love with someone else. The rest of the plot could be predicted by my five year old nephew.

Jab We Met Review

Jab We Met is your typical Bollywood romantic film : 5-6 songs poured in , designer clothes, one big Punjabi family, boy – girl have fights then live happily ever after. On the story front, Jab We Met is as predictable as it gets. Now it’s up to the actors to lift this film up. Shahid Kapur gets into the skin of his character perfectly and does a commendable job. But it’s Kareena Kapoor who steals the show with her non stop jabbering vivacious performance . The fact that Kareena looks simply fabulous in the film, is simply icing on the cake. Though both Kareena and Shahid give good individualistic performances, the chemistry is seriously missing. There is no romance in the air and that’s a big minus point for Jab We Met.

Now the actor to watch out for is Tarun Arora, who gives the hammiest performance ever by any actor on the big screen. His acting is so awkward that you feel embarrassed watching him on screen. But the irony is that his hamming is what will have you in splits. Doubt if the hamming was intentional.

No Smoking Movie Story

No Smoking is the story of John Abraham whose parents weirdly have named him as K and he has an asthmatic brother named J. Weird is it? No this alphabetical naming of children seems normal when compared to the story. John is a chain smoker and this creates problems between him and his wife, Ayesha Takia. Determined to save his marriage John, on the persistence of his friend (Ranvir Shourie) decides to go to a rehabilitation center, Prayog Shala that is run by Paresh Rawal (who used to be Hitler’s friend, no pun here). Now this is no normal rehabilitation center. They do not give you medicines or any form of treatment to help you quit the stub. They simply tell you that if you do not quit smoking, they will chop your fingers, kill your family and destroy your life. And they charge a Rs. 21,11,111 fee for their services. Now that’s clearly a one of its kind rehabilitation center. How John Abraham tries his best to save himself from the people running Prayog Shala makes for the rest of the film.

No Smoking Movie Review

Now the funda is simple, to enjoy a movie you need to first understand it. But the problem with No Smoking, is that however much you try to extend your creative and imaginative boundaries, No Smoking leaves you confused. Getting into Harvard could be easier than understanding the plot of No Smoking.

It just keeps getting bigger and better as far as Om Shanti Om is concerned. The movie that has created waves with the Deewangi song that featured as many as 31 stars in it is set to release on November 9th this year. And jst as the release date is approaching Farah Khan gives her audience another surprise. Om Shanti Om will feature Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan as well. So that is surely another feather on the cap of Om Shanti Om.

Talking about her film Om Shanti Om and the song Deewangi Farah says, “It was Shah Rukh’s and my dream to have all the big actors together in our film. I invited, rather approached around 34 stars but managed to get only 31, which I think, was more than what I expected.

So why did Amitabh not take part in the Deewangi song? Does it have anything to do  Farah surprises us with, “Amitabh is in Om Shanti Om . In fact even Abhishek is a part of our film. How can I not have them? People are speculating about this because Amit ji is not part of the song. But it’s not true. Both father and son have a special appearance in my film. They come in a scene just before the song. I wanted Abhishek to be part of the song, but when I shot the song, he was busy with his marriage preparations.”

Hrithik Roshan has endorsed the men’s wear for John Players. Well-known film actor Amrita Rao, ‘with her vibrant and youthful personality’, will be the face of the brand, ‘stylishly bringing alive the spirit of fun and playfulness’, the company said.

Actress Bhoomika Chawla who made a great debut in the Satish Kaushik directed Salman Khan starrer Tere Naam has tied the wedding knot on 21st October. The actress whose career has been quite on a low after her inital success in Tere Naam has tied the knot with her long-time boyfriend yoga guru Bharat Thakur in Guru Nanak Dev Gurudwara at Devlali Camp. The newly weds will throw a reception in Mumbai on October 25.

The couple has been in love for the past four years and it was announced a few weeks back that Bhoomika was supposed to tie the nuptial knot this month on 25th October in Mumbai. But the marriage happened on Oct 21st three days prior to the date announced.

Close friend and producer -director Sanjay Gupta, has signed Sanjay Dutt in Alibaug. Sanjay Gupta reveals that the film will be a semi autobiographical film

Talking about Alibaug Sanjay Gupta says “I’m directing a simple small film called Alibaug. It’s based on a critical phase of my life. It has no big-screen stars but the creme de la creme actors from television. A lot of this film deals with my own life.”

Sanjay Dutt will make an appearance in Alibaug. “He freaked out when I told him the concept. We remembered how Kaante was supposed to be a 1.5 crore rupee film and shot in a chawl. It instead went to LA. That’s what happens when Sanjay Dutt comes on board. I wanted Alibaug to remain small and real. It was inspired by a trip I took to Alibaug recently with my niece and her friends. The peace and happiness I felt proved I had exorcised the demons within me. I reached a kind of plateau with dark films with Zinda. It reflected my state of mind. Alibaug will be much lighter. It will make audiences smile. I had to reinvent myself.”
