Ram Gopal Verma : “Aag Is My Only Original Film To Date”

 Ram Gopal Verma has beeen having hard luck at the box office. James, Shiva and Nishabd were all duds at the box office. Was Sarrkar his last hit? I guess so. But Ram Gopal Verma is not a man who is deterred by commercial failure. He has huge expectations from his dream project : Ram Gopal Verma Ki Aag, a movie inspired from Indian Cinema’s biggest blockbuster film, Sholay.

“The original Sholay created an excitement by giving the audience one slammer of a scene after another. I hope to do the same,” Varma says.

Ram Gopal Verma also confesses his take on Sholay is the ‘only original film’ that he has made so far.

“I haven’t made a single original film till Aag. Every scene shot and frame of my earlier films have been copied from some source or the other. It could be a novel, a Hollywood or an old Hindi film.

If I haven’t been caught out it’s because people haven’t been able to locate my sources.  Aag is my first original film.” Now that is a rather bold statement to make Ramu. If you say a remake of Sholay is you’re most original film, then I wonder where you copied your several other films like Bhoot, Kaun , Satya, Darna Mana Hai etc.
