Apne Movie Review

The Deols come together for the first time on the big screen and the man who provides them with the pedestal to come on screen is none other than Anil Sharma, the man who gave Sunny Deol the hit Gadar. As far as their careers are concerned the Deols are going through a rough patch. Bobby’s last two movies Jhoom Barabar Jhoom and Shaka Laka Boom Boom bombed at the box office. Sunny was last seen on screen for the movie Big Brother. The movie went off the theatres as soon as it came up.

So now will the Deols be able to redeem themselves through a synergetic process in the form of Apne? Let’s see what the critics have to say .

Vaibhav Wankhade : “Three words come to mind immediately when asked to comment on APNE - Flat, Contrived and Yaaaawwwwn!”

Movie Rating : 2/5

Rajeev Masand : “  Sadly, Apne  has no great story. In fact, it’s a melodramatic piece that’s about thirty years too late.

Movie Rating :  1/5

Taran Adarsh : “  To sum up, APNE is desi at heart and holds appeal for those who swear by desi flicks. A worthy effort nonetheless!”

Movie Rating : 3.5/5

Sukanya Verma : ” But despite all its glaring oddities and palpable flaws, Apne has its heart in place.”

Movie Rating : 3/5

Awarapan Movie Review

Awarapan is another one of Vishesh Films productions. Generally Vishesh Films makes low budget content oriented films with small stars and manage to deliver hits out of them.  But this time round with Awarapan they have decided to go all out with a huge budget of 18 crores. Emraan Hashmi the favorite hero of the Bhatt’s is playing the lead while Sivaji star Shriya plays his love interest. Also Awarapan marks the debut of Mrinalni Sharma.

Kalyug, Zeher and Woh Lamhe …. Mohit Suri has improved as a director with each film. So will he keep his growing potential as a director with Awarapan? Will Vishesh Films be able to deliver another hit? Lets see what the critics have to say about Awarapan.

Rajeev Masand : ” Awarapan is actually quite engaging. What strikes you about the film from the moment the lights go out is the stylishness with which its been shot.”

Movie Rating : 3/5

Taran Adarsh : ” Choosing an interesting story is difficult. But doing justice to the story is nothing short of an achievement. AWARAPAN, directed by Mohit Suri, gets it right on both the levels — on paper first, on celluloid later.”

Movie Rating : 3.5/5

Subash K. Jha : ” The volatile music score (Pritam Chakbraborty) and the skilful interweaving of deftly cut scenes which glow with the flow, make Awarapan a cut-above-the-notch viewing.”

Movie Rating : 2.5/5
