Nisha Kothari Talks About RGV Ke Aag

Filed under: Interviews with Bollywood Stars - 29 Jul 2007

Ram Gopal Verma surely does have fascination with his female heroines. First it was Urmila, then Antara Mali and now it is Nisha Kothari. After casting her in James, he gave her another film Shiva. Unfortunately both the movies bombed at the box office. Ramu  also provided her with a blink and you’ll  miss role in Sarkar. But now Ram Gopal Verma has provided Nisha Kothari a role of a life time in his next film, RGV Ke Aag. Providing Nisha Kothari the role of Basanti that Hema Malini has immortalised, surely Ram Gopal Verma has given Nisha Kothari a huge responsibility and a big chance too to establish her career. Only time will tell whether Nisha gets to even a shade closer to Hema Mailini’s performance from Sholay.

Here’s an interview of the confident Nisha Kothari as she speaks to Rajnee Gupta.

Q: How different is the character Ghungroo from the original Basanti?
A: Ghungroo is a totally versatile character and her facial expressions change with every scene. She is the tapori type who does not care about anyone and is highly impressed by superhero Rajnikant. She loves Laila, the autorickshaw that she drives and is addicted to bidis.

You can say that Basanti and Ghungroo have the same flavour, but their attitudes and looks are very different. The viewers will not say that my character is similar to Basanti.

Q: Do you feel Ghungroo will be as popular as Basanti?
A: That can be known only after the movie’s release. For example, Samba was a small character in Sholay but he has become immortal. I have done my best in Aag, now the viewers will decide.

Q: How was the experience of working with so many actors?
A: I have learnt a lot from all the actors in this film. It has helped me grow as a person.

Q: Any interesting incident on the sets that you can recall?
A: I have a bad memory, so I cannot recall any such incident.

Video : Hot Scene of Urvashi Sharma In Naqaab

Whatever be the fate of Naqaab. One good thing about the movie is that it introduced Urvashi Sharma. Must say it were her radiant looks that impressed me, her acting though was a bit rusty, considering Naqaab to be her first film. I think it should only improve with time. Hope Urvashi accepts only good offers and is not reduced to another Tanushree Dutaa or Riya Sen for that matter.

Here are some rather hot scenes of Urvashi Sharma from the movie Naqaab. Guess directors Abbas - Mustaan are gettting bolder with progressing time.

Video : Ek Din Full Song Trailer From Naqaab Movie

Filed under: Bollywood Videos and Pictures - 28 Jul 2007

Pritam’s music in Naqaab might not have got laurels for him. But the song Ek Din, sung by Javed Ali, from Naqaab was one of the better songs in the movie.

The song showcased newcomer Urvashi Sharma’s dancing talent. Wish I could say the same thing about Akshaye Khanna. But must say Akshaye Khanna did try, you cann’t help it if you ain’t a good dancer right?

The Ek Din song is in the inital part of the movie and is the introduction scene between Urvashi Sharma and Akshaye Khanna. Urvashi is out to celebrate her to be marriage( with Bobby Deol) with her friends. Supposedly there is a ceremony where a newly wed must choose a man from the crowd to dance with her and Urvashi chooses Akshaye Khanna to dance.

A Rs. 1 crore Video For Priya Darshan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa

Filed under: Bollywood News - 28 Jul 2007

Bhool Bhulaiyaa is Priya Darshan’s next comic venture which will release in October this year. Starring Akshay Kumar in the lead, like most Priya Darshan films this one too is a remake of a Malayalam movie (Manichitrathazhu) .

And according to rumors,  the film’s producers are leaving no stones unturned for the promotion of this flick. Supposedly, Rs. 1 crore will be spent on a promotional video for the publicity of the film.

Is it worth spending so much money on a music video? When film’s are being made on a low string budget, like Bheja Fry which was made in just 60 lakhs. I wonder why so much money needs to be spent on a music video. The audience too hv realised that all that glitters ain’t gold. And they are getting more attracted by the content rather than the lavish decor of the film.

Bow Barracks Forever Movie Review

Small budget films generally tend to surprise you pleasantly. Take the case of last year’s Khosla Ka Ghosla or this year’s hilarious Bheja Fry. A strong story and great performance subdues the effects of a small budget.

Bow Barracks Forever is another such film . By “such” I mean a small budget film. So will Bow Barracks Forever surprise us pleasantly or give us a rude shock? Here’s what the critics have to say.

Rajeev Masand : ” Based on what is undeniably an interesting premise, Bow Barracks Forever loses much of its appeal because of its amateurish direction. Cliches are strewn around the film generously where there was need for none.”

Movie Rating : 2/5

Meetu : “Unfortunately, the screenplay and the dialogues make this a drag to watch. Thirty minutes shorter and the movie would improve on both counts, because inevitably all the repetitive lines would have to see the door.”

Movie Rating : 3/5

Sukanya Verma : “As you walk out the theatre, you wonder what does the film really say? It doesn’t really answer any questions it raises or solve any problems. Until when it does, in a manner so implausible, it loses credibility. All Bow Barracks Forever! does is add ‘man’, ‘bugger’ and ‘bloody’ to your vocabulary.”

Movie Rating : 2/5

Himesh Reshammiya On Koffee With Karan

This Sunday will see the Topi Master Himesh Reshammiya sipping coffee with Karan Johar on the show Koffee With Karan.

Himesh Reshammiya is rather ubiquitous since those Aashiq Banaya days. From songs to more songs to more songs his nasal tone can be heard reverbating out of every nukkad, every restaurant and every disco. And now he has donned the cap(yes another Topi) of an actor with his latest albeit pathetic Super Hit : Aap Ka Surroor.

So if you are famous then you’ve to be on the seat with Karan sipping Koffee, while Karan in his archetypal style will try and stir up some controversy and get to some rather tricky questions in the Rapid Fire Round. So how could Himesh elude sipping Koffee with Karan? So this week, Himesh Reshammiya and Karan are going to have some rather strong Koffee and stir up a rather hot converstion.

So here’s a brief preview into this Sunday’s Koffee With Karan and Himesh….

Here are excerpts from the chat with Himesh Reshammiya and Karan Johar.

Karan: Welcome to Koffee with Karan Himesh… how does it feel to be on the show?
Himesh: Superb!

Karan: Firstly, congratulations on the super success of your film… I know a large section of the industry was surprised… but were you expecting this kind of success?
Himesh: I think… I just believed in God, destiny and somewhere I think everyone just prayed for me and that is something that worked for me

Karan: By everyone, you mean who, large sections of the industry were not praying for you…
Himesh: No, no… only that 1 %… people just felt that this can not happen, a singer not a very good looking guy…

Karan: As in, not conventional looking… not hero material?
Himesh: I think you are being nice to me… but, it was something that was unprecedented… when the film started, people did say, “paagal ho gaya hai”. I understand. But, when actually the film was declared a hit… then, people realized.

Karan: There were particular people, who were somehow targeting you… is there any one kind of person that you felt resentment towards?
Himesh: No… I really did not feel resentment towards anyone… because when you try something which is unprecedented… then people are going to… till you prove it… and when this film was releasing… and it was declared that is a hit… so many people called me and said, “very good”… congratulated me… and they said, that they felt it wouldn’t work… so, its just that I was doing something new… something different… and it takes a little time to accept something that is unconventional…

Karan: Have you heard that behind your back there might be other singers who might be making fun of you?
Himesh: Yes… of course why not… but, you know, when they meet me… kitne composers ke saath milne ka mauka milta hain… pehli baar… phir woh opinion badal jati dete hain…

Karan: But one thing is… you keep very quite about your wife… you don’t talk about her?
Himesh: Because she is a very simple girl…

Twinkle And Akshay Kumar Marriage In Trouble?

Filed under: Bollywood Gossip, Bollywood News - 26 Jul 2007

All Bollywood fans must be knowing Akshay Kumar as the casonava. Ofcourse who can forget his numerous trysts with actresses Shilpa Shetty and Raveena Tandon. Butafter getting married to the ever so gorgeous Twinkle Khanna, Akshay Kumar not only broke hearts of thousands of girls but also broke away from his casanova image. From the lady charmer he became wife charmer. His eyes were glued only to his pretty wife, Twinkle Khanna and no one else.

It’s been six years (one year shot of the seven year itch ) since their marriage and all seemed quite well. But according to a leading tabloid all’s not well in paradise. Apparently Akshay got into a fling with Priyanka Chopra who had just split from her boy friend Aseem Merchant. The affair turned Akshay-Twinkle relationship sour which finally ended when a fuming Twinkle reportedly slapped Akshay in the lobby of a hotel in Mumbai, and warned him not to sign any film with Priyanka. Reports say that currently Akshay Kumar has moved out to Mumbai’s Mariott Hotel.

Shilpa Shetty Now A Husband Snatcher

Filed under: Bollywood Gossip, Bollywood News - 26 Jul 2007

Just a few days back, we announced how Shilpa Shetty transformed into Doctor Shilpa Shetty. And barely after the hue and cry over her attaining a doctorate had subsided, another far more malevolent controversy has struck Shilpa Shetty. Apparently Shilpa has been accused of being a home breaker and a husband snatcher.

The widely read British newspaper Daily Mail, carried details about an affair between NRI businessman Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty, along with remarks from Kavita, Kundra’s estranged wife.

There have been reports recently claiming that Shilpa and Kundra were set to marry, with Kavita blaming her marital breakup on the actress. The Daily Mail quoted Kavita as saying, “My husband’s obsession with Shilpa Shetty has broken up our marriage.”

The tabloid elaborately reported how Kundra and Kavita separated in November 2006, weeks after their daughter Deleena was born.

Kavita, the tabloid said, lamented that Kundra was always enamoured by Bollywood and had a fling with another actress a year ago.

She said Kundra had been praising Shilpa and her family of late and that they liked him.

She added: “If he is planning to marry Shilpa, I would say to her, good luck. I was never the kind of wife he wanted. He always told me I wasn’t ambitious.”

News of the World quoted a caustic Kavita as saying, “Shilpa is a cultural icon in the Indian community, but she’s not what she appears. She can have any man she wants – there are plenty of single men. She didn’t need to go after my husband.”

Video : Jaane Bhi De Movie Trailer

Filed under: Bollywood Videos and Pictures - 22 Jul 2007

Heyy Babyy, Sajid Khan’s debut venture seems to have generated quite a hype, what with the title track having as many as seventeen Bollywood beauties sizzling to Farah Khan’s choreography. Ironically, Sajid Khan who once would rip film makers who copied their films from the West has apparently been inspired from the Hollywood comedy, Three Men and A Baby. Now to what extent that inspiration has been obtained will be known only after watching Heyy Babyy.

The promos of Heyy Babyy seem quite interesting, choreography by Sajid’s sister Farah Khan is impresive, while the production values are simply mind blowing. The latest promo doing rounds is a melodious, forgive-me song Jaane Bhi De. Shankar Ehsaan Loy seem to have another hit track up their sleeves.
