Sanjay Dutt’s TADA Court Decision To Be Made Today

The demons of the 1993 blasts do not seem to leave Sanjay Dutt. Although proffessionally Sanjay Dutt’s career has touched the skies with films like Lage Raho Munna Bhai, but the turmoil and tension in his personal life is one that only the very few unlucky people experience.

Judgment Day For Sanjay Dutt : TADA Court To Give Judgment Today

Actor Sanjay Dutt faces his judgement day on Tuesday as the special TADA court is scheduled to pronounce the quantum of punishment for him and his friends in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case.

With 96 of the 100 convicts in the case having been sentenced already, Dutt’s sentencing will end the trial.

“Now only Sanjay Dutt’s group is left and the court has said that it will come for sentence on July 31,” Ujjwal Nikam, Special Public Prosecutor, said on Thursday.

For Sanju Baba, July 31, 2007 will possibly be the last time he will walk through the gates of the special TADA court at the Arthur Road Jail. He has already been convicted under the Arms Act for possessing an AK-47 in a notified area.

Dutt had been arrested on April 19, 1993 in the case and he spent 16 months behind bars as an undertrial. It raked up quite a controversy when he got bail and walked out of prison in spite of being charged under TADA.

But this wasn’t the only instance when lady luck has favoured Dutt. He has had several other near-misses at this historic court, so much so that it actually makes one wonder if he is actually a destiny’s favoured child! Just three months back, he had a close escape when he was acquitted on terrorism and conspiracy charges in the same case.

Interestingly, while Dutt was absolved on terrorism and conspiracy charges, his accomplices were found guilty under the TADA. Manzoor, who had carried the guns from Dutt’s bungalow, was found guilty under the TADA. Zaibunissa Kazi was convicted under TADA for concealing the consignment.

But Dutt, who asked for the weapons in the first place and kept them at home was found ‘not guilty’ under this Act. Dutt had also been accused of ordering the destruction of the weapons. Yet, he got away with a milder rap. He was convicted only under the Arms Act for illegal possession of arms in a notified area.

Sanjay Dutt Prays For His Release

But will Dutt finally run out of luck and land behind bars once again? Or will he go scot-free? If he escapes again, he will surely be remembered as the one who got away.

On his part, Dutt has been busy seeking divine intervention. He has also appealed to the court to let him off on probation for good behaviour. But Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam — who was instrumental in securing Dutt’s conviction — has pleaded strongly that the court should reject the plea for probation.

We at, pray that justice be done. If indeed Sanjay Dutt did anything intentionally then he should be punished. But if what he did was an act of ignorance then hope the court understands and leaves Sanjay. Don’t worry Sanjay we are sll there with you.

Bollywood Prays : Rs. 50 Crores Of Industry on Sanjay Dutt’s Head

The sentencing will not just decide the actor’s fate, but also the fate of the film projects that Sanjay Dutt is committed to.

At least three films with a budget of over Rs 15 crore each are likely to be stuck in limbo if Dutt is sentenced to imprisonment. These include Sanjay Gupta’s Alibaug, Sanjay Gadhvi’s Kidnap and Abbas-Mustan’s Mr Fraud , the films Dutt has begun filming but not completed.

In addition to these films, Dutt has been signed on to star in Rajkumar Hirani’s Munnabhai Chale Amrika and Sujoy Ghosh’s Alladin, for both of which he is still to commence shooting.

Dutt’s next release will be Indra Kumar’s comedy Dhamaal which will be released on September 7.

“As this case goes, there were days when I used to see him hassled. He used to go to court in the mornings and come for a shoot in the afternoon. He used to be pretty disturbed and there used to be frequent visits to the court. I’ve seen him really shattered and at times sobbing in his van. I’ve seen him suffer for so many years. I feel it was work which probably kept him going,” says director of Lage Raho Munnabhai Rajkumar Hirani.

“That big build, that persona of being the ‘Deadly Dutt’ that people call him… He’s a soft guy basically,” says actor Kumar Gaurav.

While actor Anupam Kher believes that Dutt has already suffered enough. “He has already served time in prison. I’m hoping he will come clean,” he says.

Agreeing with friend Kher, actor Satish Kaushik also says, “The entire industry is going to pray for him because he’s the son of a great leader. But also because Sanju baba is a great colleague and a great friend to the industry.”

For fans of the actor who watch his every film, and for his industry friends who swear by his large-heartedness, Tuesday will indeed be an important day for Dutt. Perhap’s the most important of all the days.
