Mahatma Gandhi, popularly known as the Father Of India and regarded as the Man Of The Millenium has been  India’s leader in the Freedom struggle.  Regarded with utmost respect not only in India but also world over, Gandhi is one of the most revered person. His kindness and loving nature has earned him the title of Bapu.

We know Gandhi as just a freedom struggler. But behind the Father of the Nation he carried a responsibility as a father to his kids. Barely does one know about Gandhi’s personal life. The movie Gandhi My Father aims at focussing upon the rather thwarted relationship between Mahatma Gandhi and his eldest son Harilal Gandhi.

Somewhere in the shadows of the Mahatma lived his son, roaming the streets of India like a beggar. Converting to Islam as a rebellion, reconverting to Hinduism as a penance and finally drinking himself to death. Harilal Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi’s eldest son carried his Gandhi identity as a curse around his neck. Mahatma Gandhi could transform the soul of a nation but could not save the soul of his own son. Gandhi My Father throws light upon the father son relationship that many of us are oblivious to.
