Sanjay Dutt’s imprisonment was something that was inevitable but still as the Mumbai court announced Sanjay Dutt’s conviction, Sanjay’s fans and well wishers were taken by shock. The Bollywood fraternity which has 50 crore worth of money riding on Sanjay were totally in support of Sanjay Dutt and believed that injustice has been done towards Sanjay Dutt. Here is what some of Bollywood’s celebrities said while speaking to Hindustan  Times aboout Sanjay Dutt being given the punishment :

Saira Banu : “I think whatever punishment has been meted out to him, it far exceeds the error committed by him…People have forgotten the circumstances under which the error was committed. People seemed to have forgotten the good work done by the actor, especially in the aftermath of the 1993 blasts when he picked up the wounded from the streets and took them to hospital. You know when there is some kind of catastrophe, sometimes in such a situation, someone does wrong. But my god, what a punishment. ”

Millions of prayers and good wishes from Bollywood movie lovers, for Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt couldn’t help avoid the unavoidable. Sanjay Dutt was sent to Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail on Tuesday afternoon shortly after he was sentenced to six years’ rigorous imprisonment under the Arms Act in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case.

“I am a human being. I can only wish to be free, and it is with that hope that I will go to court,” Dutt had said in November 2006. His fears and hopes have not changed eight months later. Dutt was then waiting to be convicted; now he is waiting to be sentenced.

Sanjay Dutt’s life has seen as many ups and downs, just like as a Bollywood masala film, after 1993. Arrested under TADA, he spent 16 months behind bars. It was an experience he is unlikely to forget. “I was put in solitary confinement, and I used to play with the ants,” he said in 1995 while recalling his experience.

All this while his friends, family and the film industry rallied behind. Actor Shah Rukh Khan, while speaking in 1993, said this about Dutt: “I don’t think he is the kind of guy who would do this I know him well and I am here in his support.”

Dutt’s prayers finally paid off and he was absolved of the charged of terrorism in November 2006.

But this time round lady luck didn’t remain with Sanjay Dutt, he has been sentenced for 6 years rigorous improsonment and it looks likely that he will be stuck up in jail for quite some time now

Shankar has been a force down South. But though I loved the films he made in Bollywood, he has still not received the kind of success one expected in the world of Bollywood. And this time Shankar is settling for nothing but the very best. Shankar has reportedly casted the tech savvy Shah Rukh Khan as a lead in his next directorial venture : Robot.

The demons of the 1993 blasts do not seem to leave Sanjay Dutt. Although proffessionally Sanjay Dutt’s career has touched the skies with films like Lage Raho Munna Bhai, but the turmoil and tension in his personal life is one that only the very few unlucky people experience.

Judgment Day For Sanjay Dutt : TADA Court To Give Judgment Today

Actor Sanjay Dutt faces his judgement day on Tuesday as the special TADA court is scheduled to pronounce the quantum of punishment for him and his friends in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case.

With 96 of the 100 convicts in the case having been sentenced already, Dutt’s sentencing will end the trial.

“Now only Sanjay Dutt’s group is left and the court has said that it will come for sentence on July 31,” Ujjwal Nikam, Special Public Prosecutor, said on Thursday.

For Sanju Baba, July 31, 2007 will possibly be the last time he will walk through the gates of the special TADA court at the Arthur Road Jail. He has already been convicted under the Arms Act for possessing an AK-47 in a notified area.

Dutt had been arrested on April 19, 1993 in the case and he spent 16 months behind bars as an undertrial. It raked up quite a controversy when he got bail and walked out of prison in spite of being charged under TADA.

But this wasn’t the only instance when lady luck has favoured Dutt. He has had several other near-misses at this historic court, so much so that it actually makes one wonder if he is actually a destiny’s favoured child! Just three months back, he had a close escape when he was acquitted on terrorism and conspiracy charges in the same case.

Interestingly, while Dutt was absolved on terrorism and conspiracy charges, his accomplices were found guilty under the TADA. Manzoor, who had carried the guns from Dutt’s bungalow, was found guilty under the TADA. Zaibunissa Kazi was convicted under TADA for concealing the consignment.

But Dutt, who asked for the weapons in the first place and kept them at home was found ‘not guilty’ under this Act. Dutt had also been accused of ordering the destruction of the weapons. Yet, he got away with a milder rap. He was convicted only under the Arms Act for illegal possession of arms in a notified area.

Sajid Khan is quite confident about his debut vehicle, Heyy Babyy. Apparently the producers, Nadiadwala and Sons also seem to be confident in Heyy Babyy’s success at the Box-Office as they have invested as much as 40 crore in the Heyy Baby project. Shankar Ehsaan and Loy seem to have produced another melodious foot tapping super hit album at the box-office.

Here is the highly medolious romantic song Dholna from Heyy Babyy. With every upcoming promo, Heyy Babyy seems to be appearing a superior product.

The much awaited Mehbooba song from Sholay that was immortalised by Bollywood’s finest dancer ever, Helen, is out agian. But this time it is Urmila Matondkar grooving her body to the Mehbooba E Mehbooba tune in Ram Gopal Verma Ke Aag .

The Mehbooba song in Ram Gopa Verma Ke Aag is not entirely the same as the Sholay version. The beats are similar and even the catchy Mehbooba-E-Mehbooba phrase is retained albeit with a change in lyrics and different tone to the song. Whatever the changes in this new Mehbooba song, I must say R.D. Burman’s song has been totally rapedby this new version.

The video also has Mohan Lal (playing Thakur) mouthing the famous lines from Sholay, “loha garam hai”. Even Amitabh playing the role that Amjad Khan (of Gabbar) had played in Sholay mouths a few line.

Going by the looks of it, Ram Gopal Verma has gone for a quite darker colors, cinematographically for his version of Sholay. Some what similar to Sarkar. Anyways watch the trailer and enjoy.

Chak De India is surely one of next month’s most anticipated films. The Shah Rukh Khan - Yash Raj combo surely cann’t fail. Or can it? Recently Yash Raj Films has been going thorugh quite a bad patch with their two releases this year, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom and Ta Ra Rum Pum not doing that well at the box office.

Chak De India is based on the real life story of an Indian hockey legend Negi, who was charged with match fixing allegations in 1982 when India lost to Pakistan in the Asian Games, New Delhi. Negi was later called back to coach the Indian Women Hockey team. The women’s team, under Negi’s guidance, won gold in 2002 Common Wealth Games.

Shahrukh Khan, who plays the coach’s role in the movie, along with director Shimit Amin, did a lot of research before doing the role. He also spent a lot of time with Negi to understand the character better.

I know all Bollywood fans are waiting with bated breathe for Chak De India to release. So remember the date is August 10th, book your tickets in advance as there is going to be a big rush !!!!

Pritish Nandy’s Pyaar Ke Side Effects was truly a refreshing romantic musical comedy. Barring the climax scene which was rather nonsensical, the movie was beautifully filmed. Mallika Sherawat and Rahul Bose did total justice to their characters and only added to Pyaar Ke Side Effects positive points.

And now in the age where sequels are becoming rampant, what with last year’s four big hits all being sequels : Phir Here Pheri, Krrish, Dhoom 2 and Lage Raho Munna Bhai.
The team of Pyaar Ke Side Effects are all geared up to encash on the sucess of Pyaar Ke Side Effects by releasing a sequel to it that has been tentatively titled Shaadi Ke Side Effects.

Saket Chaudhary the director of Pyaar Ke Side Effects has begun writing the script of the second installment, SHAADI KE SIDE EFFECTS.

“I have narrowed down on an idea. The story takes off a few years later, post marriage,” Saket says.

Will Mallika Sherawat and Rahul Bose head the cast of this film as well? “See, I am not writing the film keeping them in mind. Whether they feature in the film or not will be decided later. They are well aware of the second installment, but everything boils down to the script,” the talented director divulges.

Saket plans to begin filming by the year-end. SHAADI KE SIDE EFFECTS will also have a good sprinkling of English dialogues, like PYAAR KE SIDE EFFECTS. So I guess we should expect another breezy romantic comedy. What say?

Chak De India well has garnered a lot of excitement among all Bollywood fans. Just 2 weeks to go and we shall see whether finally Yash Raj Films will deliver a quality film this year. Ta Ra Rum Pum did not become a super hit while Jhoom Barabar Jhoom was a dud at the box office. So will Chak De deliver the goods?

My hopes lie upon the ability of director Shimit Amin and the acting prowess of Shah Rukh Khan to make Chak De India a treat to watch. It’s true that only time will tell the fate of Chak De but as far as the promos show, Chak De India surely will be one delightful tryst with quality cinema. What say? Let’s keep our finger crossed.

The latest exclusive promo of Chak De India raises the expectations even further. The trailer shows Shah Rukh Khan, the coach of the woman’s national hockey team delivering a motivational speech to the players, prior to the final hockey match. Must say if the movie is as promising the promos suggest it to be, then we surely have a cinematic treat on 10th August.
