First Look: Rajat Kapoor’s Mithya
Rajat Kapoor’s directorial debut, Raghu Romeo, didn’t do as well as he’d hoped, although it was critically acclaimed. His next film, Mixed Doubles, which dealt with wife swapping, was not even noticed. It was this year’s release, Bheja Fry, an out and out comedy, that has brought Rajat both critical appreciation as well as box office success.
Rajat Kapoor post Bheja Fry hasbecome a director to watch out for. Small budget films, with good story and good actors( not big actors) is his forte. And Mithya adds on to his list of movies. Mithya is produced by Arindam Chaudhuri’s Planman Motion Pictures and will be Rajat’s next release after Bheja Fry.
Rajat gives a sneak preview of the movie and says ,”Mithya, means lie. It’s about a very bad actor who is looking for work. When he gets it, it’s about how involved he gets with it. I wrote it eight years ago and wanted Naseer in it, but couldn’t collect the money. We begin shooting in July or August. I have waited six years to make this film, so I am very excited about it.”

Chicago-based hip hop composer Sagar Desai has composed the film’s music. Mithya will also mark the singing debut of Sanchita Bhattacharya, the winner of the Zee TV reality hunt, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs’06.
Mithya Movie Preview
Apart from having a weird title, the film will see an unusual pair as well with Neha Dhupia being paired opposite none other than Naseeruddin Shah! Dhupia enacts the part of a moll for a gangster in the film while Naseeruddin is the gangster himself. Director Rajat Kapoor’s Mithya will also show Ranvir Shourey in a completely new light who plays a central character of a struggling actor in the film.
