South super star Mohanlal who was also seen in Ram Gopal Verma’s film Company now plays the role of Thakur from Sholay. A role that has been immortalised by Sanjeev Kumar. Both the actors are stars in their own right. So will Mohanlal’s performance outweigh Sanjeev Kumar’s ? Now that’s a tough order!!! Only time will tell, who was the better Thakur. Following its successful entry into the domestic distribution business with films like Guru, Black Friday, Bheja Fry and more recently Spider-Man 3, Adlabs has announced the worldwide release of Anubhav Sinha’s Cash on July 13.
Cash is a high octane heist thriller set in Cape Town, South Africa and features top stars like Ajay Devgan, Suneil Shetty, Esha Deol, Dia Mirza, Zayed Khan, Shamita Shetty and Riteish Deshmukh in pivotal roles.

He looks vulnerable in most of his videos and that is precisely what makes the women go weak in their knees. Latin heart throb Enrique Iglesias made women in the city go crazy when he performed here in 2004. His new album ‘Insomniac’ is on the brink of its release and VJ Pia Trivedi met the star in Amsterdam for an interview.

“It was an absolute pleasure to meet him. He’s great fun to talk to and he makes you feel like he’s your friend. There are no tantrums like you would expect a star to have,” says Pia.

She made him speak in Hindi and cites that as an interesting anecdote from the interaction. “We translated his song ‘Escape’ in Hindi and made him sing it. He did it really well and would put most of us to shame,” she laughs.

She says the artiste is exploring different routes as far as his new albums and videos go. “He is giving hip-hop a shot, but not on this album. He also said that his new album will be different from his earlier ones,” she reveals.

What Pia enjoyed the most were Enrique’s kisses. “Enrique gave me five free kisses,” she giggles. But that’s certainly not the reason the hottie has allegedly split from former tennis star and long-time girlfriend Anna Kournikova.

Karan: Ok, how does it feel to be on the show… I know I am giving too much importance to myself by asking you this question, but how does it feel?

Shilpa: It feels weird

Karan: Weird? That’s a first… why would you feel weird?

Shilpa: Its feels weird because you know we have known each other as friends and you can get away with a lot… but, I really don’t know… the feelings are mixed …

Karan: But, it’s such a sweet innocent, almost like harmless show… So, why should you feel weird?

Shilpa: Am I still on Koffee with Karan?… (laughs)

Karan: What was the worst thing Jade Goody said to you…

His last film, Shaadi No. 1 might have been a dampner at the box office. But David Dhawan is back. And this time it will be the unseen pair of Salman Khan and Govinda who will tickle the ribs of the audience. The movie has Katrina Kaif as the female lead but surprisingly she is paired opposite Govinda and not Salman. Salman’s romantic interest will be played by Lara Dutta. The movie has a story similar to the Will Smith starrer Hitch. Where Salman plays a love guru who gives tips to Govinda on how to win over his dream girl.

Ahmed Khan has roped in boxing champion Mike Tyson for a promotional video in Fool N Final. The boxing star be part of a promotional video for Fool N Final. The music video was shot over a two-day period with nearly 100 American performers. Look’s like Ahmed Khan is leaving no stone unturned for his directorial venture Fool N Final.

Fool N Final is a typical “leave your brains at home” comedy and is set for a June release. The movie stars actors Sunny Deol, Shahid Kapur, Vivek Oberoi, Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, Ayesha Takia and Sameera Reddy. The movie revolves around the pursuit of diamonds by two gangs.

A surprise announcement was made by Deepa Mehta at the Cannes Film Festival a few days back.ohn Abraham was in Cannes to promote his forthcoming film ‘Goal’ along with girlfriend Bipasha Basu and UTV’s Ronnie Screwvala. While Bips came back to Mumbai after just half a day’s stay in Cannes, John stayed there for long.During his stay at Cannes, he met filmmaker Deepa Mehta who, to everyone’s surprise, announced her next movie ‘Luna’. A Hollywood venture, ‘Luna’ is based on the American  environmentalist Julia Hill, who lived in a small shelter atop a 180-foot-tall tree in California Redwood Forest for 738 days to protest against the felling of trees in the region. Hill named the tree on which she lived ‘Luna’, which is the title of Deepa Mehta’s movie. Two-time Oscar winner David Ward will write the script for the film. Deepa specifies that the film is very eco-friendly.

The film will have Hollywood actress Rachel Weisz in the role of Julia Hill. John will play an activist. Interestingly, the film will not reveal anything about John’s nationality.At Cannes, John also got to meet Julia Hill, who had come with Mehta.  “The true-life inspiration for the film, Julia Hill, just loved John. Her approval was very important. She thought he looked like Antonio Banderas!”, says Deepa Mehta.

Cannes serves as a good platform for filmmakers to showcase their films and earn a market for it. Same was the reason why Ashutosh Gowarikar marketted Jodhaa Akbar. And as expected the movie trailer made a huge impact at the international market.

Cannes edition- Variety rated Ashutosh as one of the top 60 people to watch out for and also buyers at Germany, France, South Africa were very excited to showcase the movie at their respective festivals. And the main highlight in the trailer was the marvelous stunt pulled off by Hrithik Roshan with an elephant. Wow…that sure will make any one’s eyebrows lift!

Shahrukh Khan launched ‘Filmstreet’, a tabloid edited by trade expert Komal Nahata. Also present at the function were Karan Johar, Jeetendra, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Javed Akhtar, Manoj Bajpai and Subhash Ghai.
