The Cast of Rajkumar Santoshi’s Ramayana

National award-winning director, Rajkumar Santoshi, who had announced several grandiose productions, has finally swung into action. His forthcoming venture includes `Ramayana’ which will be made at a cost of about Rs. 90 crores, making it the costliest-ever Hindi film.

Rajkumar Santoshi has also declared the cast for his big budget Ramayan. Ajay Devgan has been finalized to play Ram and Riteish Deshmukh will be playing Laxman. Prakash Raj, who played ACP Naidu in Khakee has been signed for the role of Ravan. It’s still to be seen who does Santoshi sign to play Sita. Rumours are ripe that Kajol, Ajay Devgan’s real life wife, is most probably going to play Sita’s role. For the time being we will have to just wait and watch.

Talking about the casting, Santoshi says that only North Indian actors will be the members of King Dasharath’s clan while South Indian actors will be a part of Ravan’s clan.

The shooting for Ramayan will start from February 2008. Meanwhile, Rajkumar Santoshi is giving final touches to his ‘ Halla Bol’, which stars Ajay Devgan with the Bollywood beauty Vidya Balan. He is also planning a comedy flick with Pankaj Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor, in which the father-son duo will act together for the first time.
