Scoop On Rituparno’s Ghosh King Lear

For centuries Shakespeare’s tragic play King Lear has fascinated theatre artists and actors. Now Bengali filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh is said to be planning to make a movie on the play. However, the movie will not be a direct adaptation of Shakespeare’s play, but will be based on an adapted play called ‘Aajker Shahjahan’ by Bengali actor Utpal Dutt.

‘King Lear’ tells the story of an ageing king who has three daughters. The king decides to abdicate the throne and divide his kingdom between his three daughters. But before doing so he holds a contest in which he asks his daughters to demonstrate their affection towards him in speech. While the two elder daughters speak volumes about their love for the king, the youngest daughter (who loves King the most) refuses to say anything because she feels words would belittle her emotions. The King eventually divides the kingdom between his two elder daughters and banishes the youngest one. Ironically, when the two daughters come into power they turn cold towards the king.Like any other Shakespearean tragedy, the story of King Lear has a universal appeal.

Review: Ta Ra Rum Pum Movie Review

Tara Rum Pum directed by Siddharth Anand of Salaam Namaste fame, is the first of various Yahraj Films to release this year. Tara Rum stars Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee and has Saif playing the role of a car-racer. So will Tara Rum Pum be old wine in a new bottle? Or will it be different from other films? Check out what the critics have to say….

Rajeev Masand : “Even though it’s meant to be an emotional story, you can’t really empathise with the characters because it’s all so plastic, so fake, so calculated and clinical. In fact I came up with a jingle for it – Ta Ra Rum Pum, have mercy on my bum, ta ra rum pum!”

Movie Rating – 2/5

Taran Adarsh : ” On the whole, TA RA RUM PUM easily ranks amongst better films from the Yash Raj factory. ”

Movie Rating – 3.5/5

Aparajita Ghosh : “Siddharth Anand’s direction is tight and he keeps the story moving at brisk pace. However, there are a few scenes that look very childish.”

Movie Rating – 3/5

Naomi Dutta : “On the whole, Ta Ra Rum Pum is a pleasantly humdrum affair. Watch it once!!!”

Movie Rating -2.5/5

Video: Trailer of Anubhav Sinha’s Cash

Anubhav Sinha returns to the action genre with CASH. Starting his career with love stories [TUM BIN (hit), AAPKO PEHLE BHI KAHIN DEKHA HAI (flop)], the talented director changed lanes and made an out-and-out action flick [DUS], followed by TATHASTU.

“I wish I could make a love story again and again… but I am working on one,” Anubhav says, “During the making of DUS, I had committed to Sohail that I’d start CASH. This action film was on the agenda next. It’s not as if I suddenly decided to make CASH one fine morning. When I heard the plot [writers: Yash-Vinay], I knew I had to make this film.” Anubhav adds that CASH isn’t inspired by any Hindi or Hollywood film. “It’s an original,” he asserts.

Anubhav firther adds, “Cash is a comic book thriller. It is “unrealistically real and realistically unreal”. It is fun. It is spectacular. It is a real popcorn movie. My expectation from the movie is that it is as such a huge hit that I don’t have to work after this. ”

Wow!! Now that’s expecting for the sky. Let’s wait and watch how CASH turns out at the Box Office, till then have a look at it’s exclusive video promo.

How The Ash-Abhi Wedding Photos Got Leaked ?

Despite so much of security to ensure that the Aishwarya-Abhishek marriage remains a private-affair sans leaks, yet the pictures inside the wedding mandap got leaked. Thus leading to a breach of privacy of the Bachchan’s. But how come the photos got leaked? Here’s what amitabh had to say on how the pictures got leaked.

Says Amitabh Bachchan angrily, “That’s because some people who came to the wedding surreptitiously took photographs with their mobile phone cameras and disgracefully put them on the net.

In fact, I’ve caught the person who has taken the photographs. He’s my neighbour.

I’ve had a serious talk with him and he has apologised profusely. He says he didn’t send it to the press. While he was sending the pictures to his sister in the US, they got intercepted on the internet.”

That’s a bit hard to believe. “I don’t believe it, but I’d like to. He’s my neighbour, and I can’t believe my neighbour could be guilty of such an act of betrayal.Anyways, we will still give photographs to the media officially,” says the Big B.

About reports in the media concerning potential invitees being left out of the wedding, the Big B is very categorical.

“I don’t think sections of the media have the right to dictate to me how to conduct my life and how to deal with my family and social obligations. My family’s privacy is very important to me, and I’ll protect it with my dying breath. We took all the relevant permissions from the civic authorities. They wanted a full guest list, the ceremonies, everything. We gave them all the details. We made the shamiyanas air-conditioned and sound proof for the comfort of the guests, so that people around our home wouldn’t get disturbed.”

“We had no fireworks to avoid sound pollution. We’ve done everything to make sure no one is offended in any way. If bitter comments are still being made about us in the media in spite of our best intentions, then what can I say?”
