Filed under: Bollywood News - 28 Feb 2007

It is going to be a whole lot of color, fun and surprise for the show this Thursday. And celebrity guests are none other than peppy Preity Zinta and ravishing Rani Mukherjee. Though both are not very comfortable with each other, SRK makes sure they share a strong rapport on the show. And the pictures below do make it seem that SRK is sucessful in his endeavour.

Shakalaka Boom Boom Movie Preview

Suneel Darshan’s SHAKALAKA BOOM BOOM is based on conflicts, trauma and the up-manship power game involved in the functioning of the music industry. The musical has been extensively shot in Johannesburg. It stars Bobby Deol, Upen Patel, Celina Jaitley and Kangana Ranaut. Incidentally, Sana Panscholi (daughter of Aditya Panscholi) was the original choice for Kangana Ranaut’s role. But i guess love took over the fatherly feeings of Mr. Pancholi. The title tack is already on air, music courtesy- Himesh Reshammiya.

Set against a backdrop of international music industry, SHAKALAKA BOOM BOOM delves into the complex relationship of two dramatically different men who have but one thing in common- their passion for music. If ruthless, manipulative, cutthroat…is considered synonymous with the music industry; these terms certainly do not apply to AJ- the most loved, the most popular singer/composer New York has seen. If prodigious talent, passion, attitude…is considered synonymous with the music industry, then Reggi fits the bill. Young and hugely talented, he hungers for what AJ has, he craves to be where AJ is- on the top. Into the lives of these two men enter two beautiful women- aspiring singer Ruhi and ambitious PR professional Sheena. On the professional front, Ruhi admires and looks up to AJ. On the personal level she has been wooed and won over by Reggi. On the professional front, Sheena has done a lot for Reggi. On the personal level, she holds a huge grudge because he has spurned her. As ambition, manipulation and desperation take center stage, Ruhi and Sheena becom pawns in a ruthless game… As AJ and reggi face off against each in a do or die battle…envy and betrayal rear their ugly heads… As talent struggles to survive the onslaught of a carefully orchestrated smear campaign, music will be the ultimate winner… And the looser… In SHAKALAKA BOOM BOOM .

Best of Jagjit Singh

Filed under: Bollywood Videos and Pictures - 27 Feb 2007

Jagjit Singh is one of the best ghazal singers that our country has ever had. His songs are rendered beautifully and the lyrics too have a deep meaning. The music videos of his songs are also very touching and add that extra effect to the song. Here are three of my favorite Jagjit Singh songs that have been used in Bollywood movies. Let me know which are your favorite songs.

#1   Hosh Waalon ko - Romance is in the air. The feeling of first love are emoted perfectly. Catch this wonderful song from the movie Sarfarosh.

No Oscar for Water

Filed under: Bollywood News - 26 Feb 2007

Deepa Mehta seemed pretty excited to have finally gotten a chance to walk over the red carpet. But her film Water did not win the Best Foreign Film which is not surprising as everyone had their bets on Pan’s Labyrinth….

Is Cheeni Kum another Nishabd ?

If Nishabd had you wondering, can any romance brew between a 18 year old woman and a 60 year old man? Then think again, because we have another movie(Cheeni Kum) dealing with the same concept albeit in a different manner. The actors in question are Tabu and Amitabh Bachchan. But Cheeni Kum appears to be more of a romantic comedy than a serious film ala Nishabd.

Amitabh must consider himself lucky for getting such wonderful roles as such an age. Surely there is no lack of “Cheeni” (sugar) in his wonderful career.

John chooses Mom over Bipasha

Filed under: Bollywood Gossip - 25 Feb 2007

John Abraham left for US on Tuesday, to attend the Oscar Function, where his film Water has been nominated as the Canadian entry in the Best Foreign Films category.

What’s interesting was the revelation by John that he would be accompanied by his mother to the gala function—a royal ignore to long-time girlfriend Bipasha who would otherwise have been keen to walk hand-in hand with John on the red carpet.

Bollywood Burnout —- Work takes it’s toll on the stars

Filed under: Bollywood News - 23 Feb 2007

Just when everything seemed to be going right for Saif Ali Khan, his sudden hospitalisation following pain in his chest, is a stark reminder of the fact that stardom comes at a price and he is not the only one. Time and again filmstars have felt the pressure, the stress and the harsh reality of being in showbiz.

Pressure takes its toll

Saif Ali Khan is the current toast of tinsel town. He has everything going for him — right banners, right films, and also the much coveted critical acclaim. But late on Sunday evening, Saif was rushed to Mumbai’s Lilavati hospital, where he was admitted to the ICU and doctors suspected a heart attack, leaving Bollywood stunned.

“There is constant pressure on the actors. Something or the other is always going on. If not shooting, then there are shows. It’s tough keeping up with all that and as a matter of fact, I’m scared,” admits director Pradeep Sarkar, who worked with Saif in 2005 blockbuster movie ‘Parineeta’.
